Stop the West Side Stadium!

If you are a New Yorker, please write Governor Pataki, State Senate Majority Leader Bruno, Assembly Speaker Silver as well as your own State Senator and State Assembly representative to urge them to oppose NYC Mayor Bloomberg's West Side Stadium for the New York Jets. The Public Authorities Control Board, a state agency, must approve the plan which will relieve taxpayers of their money and give it to the Jets.

Corporate sports welfare is legalized theft and is the antithesis of free markets, private property and individual liberty.

Let these be our watchwords: Separate sports and state.

LibertyMove.org

An exciting new website has been started by libertarians. www.libertymove.org is a non-partisan libertarian political action vehicle. I will probably get involved with it.

John Paul, II R.I.P.

Pope John Paul II's life showed that one person can make a difference in history, while great historical forces are set in motion by individuals, institutions and nature.

He helped bring about the end of communism while he misunderstood the liberating nature of capitalism. He falsely equated capitalism with consumerism and materialism.

He reached out to Jews and apologized for the sorry record of the Roman Catholic Church towards Jews while showing a tin ear at times towards them.

In short, he was a gifted human being who could not transcend the limitations of his ideological, institutional and philosophical starting points.

He will be missed.
